Beth, PT, DPT, NCS
Owner and Physical Therapist
Board-Certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy
Hi, I’m Beth, founder of Coastal Movement and Wellness. I’m passionate about helping people move better, feel better, and live fuller, more active lives—whether they’re recovering from a neurological injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply looking to stay strong and independent.
After moving to coastal North Carolina with my husband and two young boys, I saw a real need for high-quality, specialized neurologic physical therapy in our community. That need inspired me to create Coastal Movement and Wellness, a mobile physical therapy and wellness practice that brings evidence-based, compassionate care directly to clients in their homes.
My Philosophy
I believe that therapy should be functional, personalized, and meaningful. Catastrophic injuries or illnesses can affect every part of life, and my goal is to help each person regain control—whether that means walking on the beach again, getting back in the pool, or feeling confident doing everyday activities. I combine the science of neuroplasticity with creativity, motivation, and genuine partnership to help clients achieve their highest potential.
Background and Expertise
Before founding Coastal Movement and Wellness, I spent much of my career specializing in spinal cord injury (SCI) at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA— one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation hospitals. There, I worked extensively with individuals with SCI and I helped develop the Activity Based Therapy Program where I used cutting-edge technology to facilitate neuroplasticty and maximize function.
I’ve lectured for physical therapy programs on neurologic gait, robotic exoskeletons, and neuroplasticity, and contributed to research focused on exercise and wellness after spinal cord injury. [Click here for a list of research contributions.]

Beyond the Clinic
I love integrating Pilates and functional movement into every program—because movement isn’t just therapy, it’s lifelong wellness. In addition to working with clients one-on-one, I teach community Mat Pilates classes for all levels and abilities. Outside of work, you’ll find me running, swimming, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time at the beach with my family.
