Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Coastal Movement and Wellness different from traditional physical therapy?

I specialize in helping people with neurological injuries and conditions, and I truly believe that specialized care makes all the difference. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, every plan is personalized and meaningful, built around what matters most to you—in your own home, community, or wherever you move best.

Your goals, not insurance rules, guide our sessions. You’ll receive one-on-one attention the entire time, with care that draws on years of experience and the latest research in neurologic rehabilitation. You’ll never feel rushed, and I’m always available to answer questions or make adjustments between visits.

Is Coastal Movment & Wellness the same as Home Health Therapy?

Not at all! While home health therapy is for people who are homebound, Coastal Movement & Wellness is mobile outpatient physical therapy—which means we bring the clinic to you. Sessions can take place at your home, the gym, the beach, or even a local park. You don’t have to be homebound to get specialized care; you just have to want therapy that fits your lifestyle and happens where you feel most comfortable.

Do you accept insurance?

No, I don’t bill insurance directly. Insurance companies often place strict limits on what’s “medically necessary,” which can restrict the kind of care that truly makes a difference. By working outside of insurance, I can focus fully on you—your goals, your pace, and your progress—without unnecessary restrictions or delays. Clients may use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to pay for sessions.

What is a PWR!Moves® Certified Therapist?

A PWR!Moves® Certified Therapist specializes in working with people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) using exercises and functional movement strategies proven to help maintain mobility and independence. These sessions focus on improving posture, strength, balance, and daily movement skills while helping manage symptoms such as stiffness or freezing. The goal is to keep you moving confidently and living life to the fullest.

What’s the benefit of the Pool?

The pool provides a supportive and versatile environment to boost mobility, strength, and confidence—all with less stress on your joints and a lower risk of injury. Water’s buoyancy helps support your body for easier movement, while resistance adds a gentle challenge to build endurance and stability. Aquatic therapy is a fun, safe, and effective way to improve walking, balance, flexibility, and overall fitness.

Can Pilates Really Help?

Absolutely! Pilates is for everyone—it’s a low-impact, whole-body approach that builds strength from the core outward. It helps improve posture, flexibility, and body awareness, making it an excellent complement to physical therapy or general fitness. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a condition, or simply looking to move and feel better.
